My work focuses on the preservation of wonderment by compiling a visual narrativeof the many mysteries that compel me and resonate on a deeper personal level. I am inspired by the attempts of science to define and organize chaos. Further, I am drawn to the search for universal truths and absolutes in modern society. Another element in my work is the mythology that preceeded modern civilization and shaped the way cultures perceived the natural world. I am fascinated by primitive cultures and their search for knowledge through medicinal means such as ayahausca. Their interest mirrors our own yet their journey follows a different path.I also utilize the psychology of meaning that is placed on certain objects and symbols. Primitive peoples utilize symbols to store knowledge and I hope to draw in part from their wealth of interpretation. I attempt to rekindle the fascination with the metaphysical in the mundane. In exploring connections to the mysteries of life, I seek to inspire a sense of awe about the workings of nature and the human experience. The sheer unknown that surrounds us on a daily basis is an amazement to me. Curiosity, a fundamental of the human condition is a driving force in my life as well as my works. I hope that the wonder I experience is translated to the canvas.
